Two students have been selected from each grade level for student of the month. In addition, 2 students were also selected from the connection classes to represent WWMS. The students selected must have a positive attitude, a strong desire to learn, excellent behavior, and a willingness to help others. The following students have been chosen: for the 6th grade-Lizeth Patino Urbina and A'Zavion Dubose for 7th grade- Ta'Mirriah Smith and Daeon Gibson for 8th grade- Chase Elam and Savannah McCurley and for Connections- Samaria Grant .

The Georgia Parent Survey is now available, and we encourage all parents to take a few minutes to participate. What is the Georgia Parent Survey? It is a survey designed for you to share your valuable input with the Georgia Department of Education. It consists of only 24 questions, covering various aspects of your experience with your child's education. How can you participate? It's easy! You can complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. If you don't have internet access, don't worry – contact your child's school to arrange a time to complete the survey there. Why does it matter? The data you provide will play a crucial role in calculating the School Climate Star Rating. Your anonymous responses will be sent directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. The Wilkes County School Nutrition Program is excited to feature Bar47 Beef at Washington Wilkes Middle School/Washington Wilkes High School on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Earlier this year, Wilkes County was awarded a grant from the Georgia Department of Education to support local Georgia businesses called the Local Foods for Schools. The Local Foods for Schools pilot program is an initiative to support Georgia farmers and ranchers and bring locally sourced foods into the lunchrooms across Georgia. Wilkes County School Nutrition is excited to showcase Bar47 Beef to students on Thursday, February 8th when we offer Beef & Cheese Nachos as our main entrée. Wilkes County native Wilkes Barnett is the owner/operator of Bar47 Beef. Wilkes and his family have produced top-quality Black Angus beef cows since 1947. We know the students and faculty will enjoy the Farm Fresh Beef Nachos. We look forward to featuring Bar47 Beef at WWPS and WWES later in February.

The safety of our staff and students is always our top priority. The wind predictions of 30-40+ mph exceed the safety threshold of school buses, creating dangerous conditions for our students and drivers. With this in mind, the decision has been made to make tomorrow, January 9th, a virtual learning day for Wilkes County Schools. Students will need to log into Google Classroom or the school website for assignments. We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday, January 10th.
